WhatsApp will come with UPI facility sooner to bank to bank transfer money to your friends and family in upcoming few week. The much forecast feature has already been spotted in beta version Android app that the Facebook owned company released this week.
According to blog WABetaInfo, which also shared an image of this feature, WhatsApp for Android 2.17.285 beta version comes with a hidden page in the app for the payment feature. According to shows in the image, WhatsApp will allow bank to bank money transfer using UPI (Unified Payment Interface), which works on top of Aadhaar infrastructure.
Since it's using UPI, the bank to bank transfer will be quick and easy, as UPI works on IMPS protocol.
Several popular messaging app including Hike Messenger and WeChat already support payment services. However, a initiate from WhatsApp, which is the most popular app in India with over 200 million active users, could further extend the reach of digital UPI payments in India.
Since demonitization, most of the digital payment come app Paytm and MobiKwik has seen exponential growth of number of transaction and user base.
